PhD Student Agroecology
Georg-August-University Göttingen

I studied Agricultural Sciences at the Georg-August-University Goettingen, where I soon realized that I am broadly interested in sustainable management practices like organic farming or conservation in agricultural systems. Within the Agricultural Sciences program I specialized particularly in Resource Management where the focus is on sustainable farming systems, environmental economics and environmental policies.

Furthermore, for my Master’s thesis I focused on the economic evaluation of ecosystem services. I believe that the concept of ecosystem services is an excellent tool for evaluating and estimating nature’s value and otherwise demonstrating to society the important services nature provides. Sustainable management of ecosystem services can also take up the current challenges of food safety, improved human welfare and agricultural production at the same time.

Because of this belief I decided to study Diversified Farming Systems and concentrate on their benefits, costs and risks for agricultural systems. Here the implementation of Diversified Farming Systems is fascinating, because it is necessary to combine scientific knowledge with current agricultural practices.
